RnR White Water Rafting prides itself on its very high safety standards, which maintain our position as industry leaders. Not only does RnR meet Australian Outdoor Recreation Standards, but we exceed our customers expectations with extra safety features (eg. additional hold-on safety ropes are fitted inside all rafts).
The following is a summary of our Workplace Health and
Safety - River Operations Manual and Risk Management
Policies.
Our Guides are trained
to the highest safety standards in the world.
The following is a summary of their training -
- Intensive 6 week course in which all participants
are trained to a trainee river guide level.
- A Current senior First-Aid certificate from
Queensland Ambulance (Refresher every 12 months)
- Reading White Water
- Identifying hazards in and around river
- Understanding clients needs and expectations
- Trained in white water rescue techniques as
specified by Swift Water Rescue Inc.
Once trained to this level, the Trainees then train
for up to another 4 months, rafting with a Senior
Qualified guide until they are deemed qualified to take
paying passengers down the river by themselves. River
guides are under continuous assessment and training from
our level 5 senior river guides.
- All guides are extensively trained in our
emergency and contingency plans. River rescue
training is an ongoing process.
- All support staff (drivers / visual staff) are
trained in contingency plans and have a current
first aid certificate.
- Each trip is run by a Senior Trip Leader who has
had intensive extra training in all operational
practices and procedures
- Every major rapid (Grade 3 and up) has extensive
safety cover procedures.
- Every rafting trip
carries well stocked first aid kits including a Satellite
phone
- After any floods, Senior guides check the river
for any new hazards that may have moved.
- We have fully qualified Workplace Health and
Safety officers to oversee all procedures.
