Andy Loxton - Senior River Guide
I was born in Brisbane, but have been
around Cairns for 20 years now - that nearly makes
me a local. I have travelled and rafted throughout
the United States, Canada, Peru and Chile, and
travelled all over Australia. When I am not rafting
(which is not very often) I love kayaking, sailing,
and outdoor cooking. I have been rafting for over 10
years, and there is no place better to do it than on
the North Johnstone River, in Far North Queensland.

John Macrossin - River Guide and Tully Operations
Manager
Hi I'm Johnny Mac and I have worked for RnR for over 20 years. I was born in Ayr, North Queensland, and have travelled to New Zealand, Costa Rica, Zimbabwe, Italy, France, Turkey, and the United States. Italy is my favourite coutnry I have ever visited, but the best river I've rafted is the North Johnstone, here in North Queensland. My most memorable day on the river was "Mega Monday", 1989. I like music, relaxing, and living life in the most stress-free way possible. My plans are to finish what I started before today.

Marty Young - Senior River and REI Guide & Safety & Maintenance
My name is Martin (Marty) Young and I have been
guiding for over 13 years throughout Australia
and the World. During this time I have white
water rafted in Cairns, Tasmania and Victoria in
Australia as well as the Rockies and Ontario,
Canada. I have travelled extensively throughout
the USA, Canada, Caribbean and the UK. I was
trip leading the REI tours in FNQ for
a number of years before getting the travel bug
again. Recently, I was training white water
rafting guides in Japan and enjoying their
exceptional hospitality, history and knowledge.
I have extensive knowledge in sea kayaking,
mountain biking, hiking, rafting, diving and
enjoy sharing these experiences with clients
combined with rainforest and outback knowledge
of flora and fauna makes the tour educational as
well as enjoyable. My wacky sense of humour
and Far North Queensland “Australian style”
makes for an unforgettable experience at a
locals pace. |

Shawn Forster - Senior River and REI Guide
People call me Boopa, I've been an REI Guide for 6 years. I was born in
Sydney I've been a full time resident of Cairns for over 10
years. I have been an outdoor type adventurer all
my life - sport, surfing and nature our my main loves. I've been a
Rafting Adventure/ Guide for 10 years and getting
with nature truly is my cup of tea. Bush cooking,
new friends and a good laugh is what I most look
forward to. So come to Oz and enjoy the serenity of
the tropics. |

Reese Goldsmith - Senior River Guide
They call me Rui (it's my middle name), and although I was born in New Zealand, I have been in Australia since I was six months old. I have been rafting for over 11 years, and the North Johnstone is by far my favourite river I have ever worked on. I want to see more of Australia, and then travel to Japan...and I definitely want to be rafting for the rest of my life. See you on the river! |
 |
Chris Hudson - Senior River Guide
Hi my name is Chris and I've been working with RNR since 2000, and full time since 2002. I started rafting back home in Scotland in 1999. I now live in sunny Cairns--happy days. I am hopefully planning to raft until 75 so if you know a good hip and shoulder surgeon could you pass on their details to me when you come rafting? See you on the river! |
 |
Fabricio Paz - River Guide Hi, my name is
Fabio. Born in Peru, I travelled all over South
America before moving to Australia. I have been
rafting with RnR for 4 years on the Barron, Tully
and North Johnstone Rivers. My favourite Tully River
Rapid is the alarm clock - it's the first rapid of
the day and WAKES YOU UP! Apart from rafting, I love
building and driving fast cars. I look forward to
seeing you on the river. |

Andrew Midgley - Senior River Guide
Midge here. I came to Australia from the UK in the early 1990's, spent many years rafting, climbing, and canyoning around New South Wales and many a season overseas. I finally found Cairns in 2001 and have been loving it ever since. (I am also the best looking guide with the best body and extremely rich). |
 |
Takeshi Fujitani - Senior River Guide
My name is
Takeshi, and I have been in Australia for 6 years
with my wife, and now two children. Originally from
Japan, I spent five and a half years rafting the
Zambezi River in Africa, before coming to tropical
Far North Queensland as a River Guide with RnR. Here
I raft the Barron, Tully and NJ Rivers and do REI
hiking. My six year old son also loves to raft on
the Barron River with me on the weekends.

Mark McKay - River Guide
They call me Macca, and I'm orignally from Sydney. Besides rafting, I like to surf and play golf. I've been rafting for 5 1/2 years, and I have travelled to New Zealand, the United States, and Canada. I must say that the Stein river in Canada is one of my favourite rivers, but the most memorable day I've had on the river was the very first one. |
 |
Calum Abott - River Guide
Hi I'm Calum and I am a Queensland boy from the "BrisVegas" area (Stradbroke Island). I have been guiding for five years, and the best river I have ever been on is the North Johnstone river. I once worked as a tea and coffee merchant on the Mekong Valley Delta. My favourite country that I've visited is Kazakstan and my best day on the river was yesterday. |
 |
Tom Jolly - River Guide
My nickname is Tomba. I was born in England, but I have lived in Australia most of my life. I have travelled all over - Switzerland, Africa, Japan, Canada, Chile - except the very top and bottom of the planet. I'd love to fish more, kayak more, and someday visit Norway. My favourite country that I've visited is Nepal, but the best river I have ever rafted in my 7 years of guiding has got to be the North Johnstone here in Australia. Any full flood day on the Tully is a great day too. |
 |
Graham Maifredi - Senior River Guide & ARF Member
My nickname is Freddie and I was actually born in the town of Tully here in North Queensland. I like outrigger canoeing, kayaking, fishing, reading, mountain biking, water skiiing and of course floral arranging. I travelled through western Europe, Asia, North America, and the southern part of Africa. I'd love to travel through eastern Europe. My favourite river I have ever rafted is the Zambezi. I remember on September 9, 2001 on the Zambezi...it's not every day you win a "World Title", oi oi oi! My goal is to see whitewater rafting taken to the Olympics. |
 |
Zoe Bartlett - River Guide
People call me Ginger Ninja because of my amazingly red hair. I was trained on the Tully and I continue to guide on the Tully! I love kayaking, camping, and all things outdoors, and the North Johnstone is my favourite river. I am from Townsville here in Queensland, and I have traveled around Oz and New Zealand. Someday, I'd love to travel in South America. Every day on the river is a memorable day for me! |
